DOS to Launch a Pilot Program in the Later Part of 2023 Offering Within US Visa Renewals for H-1B and Other Temporary Visa Holders

Based on an exclusive interview with Julie Stufft, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Visa Services in the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Bloomberg Law reported on February 09, 2023, that the State Department (DOS) will launch a pilot program later this year offering stateside visa renewals for H-1B and other temporary visa holders. In 2004, the State Department (DOS) discontinued stateside processing of visa renewals. Please stay tuned for more information as DOS prepares to roll this program out.
